10:35 AM ARTC Executive Update: On the Way to 2025 – Construction Priorities to Meet the 10-Year Delivery Schedule

Building the national project will require approximately 2600 tonnes of steel, 130 000 tonnes of rail, over 8000 metres of tunnels, to name a few. To date, reference designs and EIS for two NSW priority projects have been delivered and concept designs for the remaining 11 have also been completed. With the expected completion year fast approaching, the ARTC is expecting to begin construction of the first of 13 projects this year. In this executive update, the ARTC will address the infrastructure and planning priorities ahead for 2018.

  • Paving the way for tendering: Determining the shortlist requirements for registrations of interest and finding the right construction partners and suppliers across the project
  • Maintaining consistency of greenfield and brownfield tracks to ensure efficiency and service reliability of future freight trains
  • Accommodating double-stack trains to boost connectivity to the east-west corridor
